What materials are available for a seamless bathroom?

Seamless is not a single material, but a result. bazuba uses two methods: wall coatings and wall panels, both applied over the old tiles. We do not offer microcement, lime-marbled plaster, or large-format tiles. They are included in the table so you can compare what other providers offer.

The last column is the most important: every material has a weak point. For trowelled surfaces, it is the substrate; for natural plasters, it is maintenance; for large tiles, it is the demolition beforehand. bazuba does not install tiles and does not use microcement or lime-marbled plaster.

What are the disadvantages of a seamless bathroom?

A seamless bathroom is easy to maintain and has a calm appearance. However, it does have limitations that you should be aware of before making a decision.

  • The substrate is decisiveIf the wall is subject to significant movement or the substrate is not stable, fine cracks may develop. That is why we inspect the wall and tiles before providing a quote.
  • Repairs can sometimes be visibleA single tile can be replaced. However, a repaired area on a seamless surface may remain visible under certain lighting conditions.
  • No harsh cleanersScouring cream, abrasive sponges and aggressive limescale removers can damage the sealant. A mild bathroom cleaner is entirely sufficient.
  • Higher cost per square metreHand-applied, multi-layer finishes cost more per square metre than inexpensive tiles. However, this is often offset as there is no need for demolition.
  • Not suitable for DIYWaterproofing, layer construction and sealing do not forgive mistakes. Most damage to grout-free surfaces is due to DIY attempts.

How much does a seamless bathroom cost?

A complete seamless bathroom is available from bazuba starting at around €12,000. This includes the seamless wall coating, a newly coated bathtub or shower tray, and a new floor. If only the shower or a single wall is to be made seamless, the price will be significantly lower. We will provide the fixed price after the free inspection.

Per square metre, a trowelled and sealed surface is more expensive than a standard budget tile, as it is applied by hand in several layers. However, the overall calculation often changes: if the coating is applied over the old tiles, there is no need for removal, disposal, plastering, or several days of work. Therefore, a reliable square metre price cannot be given without inspecting the substrate.

Execution requires experience: if the substrate is not stable or moves significantly, fine cracks may develop. Damaged areas can be repaired, but on seamless surfaces, repairs may sometimes remain visible. Abrasive agents and harsh cleaners can damage the sealant. And a grout-free bathroom is not a DIY project. Learn more in the section Disadvantages.

In most cases, yes. The prerequisite is a solid, dry substrate. Loose or hollow-sounding tiles are repaired beforehand, and the joints are levelled so that the grid does not show through later.

bazuba works with two solutions: a multi-layer wall coating with waterproof sealing and large-format wall panels. In addition, there are microcement, lime-marbled plasters, and large-format tiles available on the market, which bazuba does not offer. The differences are shown in the material comparison.

For maintenance, a soft cloth and a mild bathroom cleaner are sufficient. You should avoid scouring cream, abrasive sponges, and harsh cleaners. As there are no longer any cement joints, limescale and mould have little chance to take hold. With this care, the surface is designed to last for many years.

Yes. The wall coating is sealed to be waterproof and is made for wet areas, as are the wall panels. The crucial points are the connections to the shower tray, fittings, and corners, which we seal.

Microcement is a material, seamless bathroom the result. Microcement is a thin, cement-based levelling layer that also creates seamless surfaces. bazuba does not use microcement. Our wall coating is a proprietary, multi-layered system with sealing. Both require a stable substrate and an experienced installer.
