HOW WE WORK

Bathroom renovation without demolition: how it works

With bazuba, most things remain in place. Instead of removing tiles and tearing out the bathtub, we coat the existing surfaces or only remodel what needs to be changed. This produces hardly any construction debris, and your bathroom is usually usable again after just a few days.

Subsidies: How to reduce the costs

With a care level, the care insurance fund pays up to €4,180 for an age-appropriate conversion, such as a walk-in shower instead of a bathtub. The KfW grant 455-B has been discontinued since 31 July 2026, but the KfW loan 159 continues. In addition, 20 percent of labour costs can be deducted from tax, up to a maximum of €1,200 per year.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Bathroom renovation Magdeburg - good to know

The cost of a bathroom renovation in Magdeburg mainly depends on the size of the bathroom, the condition of the pipes and subfloor, the desired scope, and the fittings. In older buildings and prefabricated flats, the layout of the pipes and whether the floor plan is to remain unchanged often also play a role.

As a rough guide, not binding prices: The complete renovation of a medium-sized bathroom (4 to 8 m²) with standard fittings typically costs between €12,000 and €18,000; with higher-end fittings, between €18,000 and €25,000. It is significantly cheaper if not everything needs to be removed: A bathtub or shower tray coating combined with a vinyl floor over the old tiles usually costs between €2,100 and €4,200 in total. The ECO-Bad, which also includes painting the tiles and renewing furniture and fittings, starts at €8,000. The actual cost for your bathroom depends on the individual case.

The difference compared to a traditional renovation lies in the method: bazuba coats existing surfaces instead of tearing them out. This eliminates demolition, disposal, and a large part of the construction time. bazuba Schönebeck will provide you with a fixed price after a free on-site inspection at your home, no hidden costs.

That depends on the scope. A bathtub coating is completed in one day and the bathroom can be used again shortly afterwards. Converting a bathtub to a shower takes two to three days, a complete renovation usually takes one to two weeks.

For comparison: A traditional bathroom remodel with demolition usually takes four to six weeks, as demolition, disposal, new subfloor and drying times are required. These steps are largely omitted with bazuba, as existing surfaces are coated instead of replaced. In apartment buildings, this counts double: less dirt in the stairwell, less noise for the neighbours and a much shorter period without a functioning bathroom. For larger projects, your consultant will coordinate the schedule with you in advance so that you know on which days work will be carried out. bazuba Schönebeck will give you the exact timeframe during the on-site inspection, together with the fixed price.

bazuba Schönebeck operates throughout Magdeburg, from Stadtfeld and the old town to Buckau, Sudenburg and Neu Olvenstedt, and in the surrounding area within about an hour’s drive. In Salzlandkreis, we serve Schönebeck (Elbe), Barby, Calbe (Saale), Staßfurt, Egeln and Bernburg (Saale), in Jerichower Land we serve Gommern, Biederitz, Möser, Burg and Möckern, as well as Zerbst/Anhalt and Aken (Elbe).

Our location is at Magdeburger Straße 90 in Schönebeck, directly south of Magdeburg.

Whether old apartment, prefabricated building or detached house: This does not change the way we work, but it does affect the planning. We clarify this precisely during the on-site measurement.

Travel and measurement are free of charge. If your location is not listed here, simply ask us. The list is a selection, not a limit.

Yes. We renovate bathrooms in owner-occupied flats and houses as well as in rented flats, and we regularly work with property management companies. Because we coat existing surfaces instead of tearing them out, the construction site remains small: there is hardly any construction debris, and the bathroom is quickly usable again. Neighbours in the building will notice this as well. For major changes in a rented flat, please coordinate in advance with your landlord or property management. During the free inspection, we will discuss what is important for this process.

Yes. Planning, dismantling, installation, wall design, flooring and fittings are all provided by bazuba Schönebeck. You have one contact person, one appointment and one fixed price, instead of having to coordinate plumber, painter and floor layer yourself.

This coordination effort is the biggest time-waster in a traditional renovation: each trade has its own lead times, and if one fails, the construction site comes to a standstill. With us, a team takes care of all steps and is responsible for the sequence itself. For you, this means one contact instead of three phone numbers.

The range of services extends from complete renovation to partial renovation and the conversion from bathtub to shower, to bathtub coating, seamless wall cladding and accessible bathrooms.

We provide an eight-year guarantee on our coating work on bathtubs, showers and tiles. And because we coat existing surfaces instead of tearing them out, your home remains largely dust-free: no demolition, hardly any construction debris, no weeks of building work.

Yes. bazuba Schönebeck has its showroom at Magdeburger Straße 90 in 39218 Schönebeck (Elbe), directly south of Magdeburg.

On site, you can see and feel what is difficult to describe over the phone: what a coated bathtub really looks like, how a seamless wall feels, which of the more than 250 available colours suits your bathroom, and how a level-access shower or a bathtub door works in everyday life.

To ensure someone can dedicate time to you, please arrange your visit in advance, either by phone at +49 3928 68116 or via the form on this page. Your contacts are Uwe Dittmar and Sven Pechstein.

The visit is non-binding and free of charge. If you wish, bring photos or measurements of your bathroom, as many questions can be clarified during the initial consultation.

Yes, converting a bathtub to a shower is one of the most requested services at bazuba Schönebeck. The old bathtub is removed and replaced with a shower tray with a low entry. The conversion usually takes two to three days, and a complete renovation of the bathroom is not necessary.

Because the adjacent wall surfaces are coated rather than demolished, the work is limited to the area around the bathtub. This is especially advantageous in older flats, where surprises often lurk behind the tiles. The conversion is particularly relevant when getting into the bathtub becomes difficult, such as with increasing age or after an injury. It can be combined with grab rails or a seat. If you wish to keep the bathtub but the entry is the problem, an alternative is the subsequent installation of a bathtub door, which can be completed in a day.
