The care allowance is paid monthly (12 times per year) in arrears. Neither income tax nor health insurance contributions are deducted from the care allowance.

Note: If you stay in a hospital or rehabilitation clinic, the care allowance is paused from the second day onwards, provided that a social insurance provider (domestic or foreign), the federal government, a regional health fund, or a health care institution covers the main costs. In certain circumstances, the care allowance can continue to be received upon application.
